Accidentally on Purpose

Scooping up the camera, hoping to capture my growing 5 year old in a mega moment of glory, a beautiful sight distracted me. What I discovered was free. I found myself strolling around observing last years backyard bargains that had transformed themselves into thrilling treasures.

Adventure that began at last years local Garage Sales gave me simple pleasure that was too big to measure.

How could I be so moved by plants in curious pots? The pictures don't satisfy you I know.

The plants that were given to me are called, "Live Forever." They will grow in dirt (literally)and will be content even in full sun. To transplant, all it takes is for the plant stem to be pushed into the soil. No root is necessary to grow.

The plant containers are finds that were so little in price that I don't recall the cost.

The "Live Forever" plants survived through the freezing Winter. No watering from me did they require as the Spring rain supplied what was necessary.

What a beautiful little corner of the world God has surrounded me with.

Up All Night?

Got lots of time to sleep just can't get there...tossed, turned, thought. After a good hour and a half I called it quits. Guess, I have some important things to talk over with God...This is what he said...
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
2 Peter 1:5–7
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
I'll be working on writing His Living Word in my heart and on my lips!

Claim Your Space

We made it to the mountains and staked our claim. Obstacles presented themselves, but to rise above them was extremely satisfying. Our first family ski trip was a success.

The drive to Colorado was a challenge. It was supposed to be eight hours and ended being thirteen. I-70 was actually closed because of ice and blizzard conditions. We had to choose a different route. Our car was full of prayers for safety. As terrible as the weather conditions were, we felt as if we were inside a bubble that could not be burst.

Once in Colorado Springs, we set up camp with a real sense of ownership of the moment together. We were tired puppies, and Peterson AFB was a welcoming site. We knew our hotel room would have a kitchen and there would be a Commissary just minutes away. More adventures were just around the corner. Our expectations were high for what tomorrow would bring.

We came across a dog park, and Bella learned to enjoy the snow. Bearen got used to the idea of being on a leash. Sam, Will and Max said hello to an old friend -- the hiking trails found in the Garden of the Gods.

The snow-packed mountains of Monarch were calling us. Kent and I jumped out of our warm bed to grab our boys and head up to the slopes. So much had changed since we had been up at that elevation. Skiing now required helmets, and parents were frowned upon if their offspring's eyes were not covered with goggles. Our boys did not disapoint us. They took to skiing just like we wanted.

The boys left Colorado looking forward to the next ski adventure. Kent and I were relieved to see that our love for the mountains would be passed down. And, along the way, our family had also witnessed the true power found in prayer.

The Leader of the Pack

I'm a pack leader... want to be. At home, school and situations that cause me anxiety. So, here is to a new year/new me. I'll be projecting a calm, assertive energy. *No, I'm not going Buda on ya. I'll be looking to God to pour out His Holy Spirit on me daily, moment to moment.

I've become a Cesar Millan fan for good reason as we have a Bella and Bearen in our family now. We are going to scoop them up and take them along with us to Colorado Springs over Christmas. Here is the crazy part...we sold our mini van and have a 2008 Honda Civic.

Needless to say I'll be bringing God's Word along with us! Sounds like a fun family trip, right?!

I Got My Girl

After much thought and prayer Kent and I decided to say "yes" to a new addition to our family. We ended up getting a little girl, dog! All it really took was Kent saying that it would be nice to have a lap dog. My mom has three Jack Russell Terriers and has been looking for a male to have a litter of puppies with. She had no such luck. So, we ended up rescuing a 9 month old Chihuahua. She is precious. "Say hello, Bella!"

Watch your Words

We've been working on grammar; trying to leave out the period can be fun. But this is what I really want to remember about the lesson...

*Give without remembering; take without forgetting.

Use a semicolon in place of a period to separate two sentences where the conjunction has been left out.

I'm Fixin

What did you do this summer? Did you go anywhere? Did you visit anyone? Well, if you have opened my Smileboxes you've seen what I've been up to. But what I have not been doing is what's getting me irritated.

We are blessed to have a extra office/guest bedroom in our home but its become a place for paperwork, books, pictures, boy's drawings, rental house files, Air Guard schooling and important documents. So, I'm fixin to move all the ***** out of the room to a much more visited room in the house. Then I will be forced to deal with the stacks of items that were too important to throw away in the first place! I'm fixin to deal with the mess! This picture is of someone else's office/guest bedroom. It will help me see what my room will look like if it does not get fixed!

Get Off Me!

Skeptics say it's impossible to lose weight by swimming. That's just great. The one aerobic activity that people who are overweight could actually benefit from without putting their bodies in more pain is known to not allow you to take the pounds off.
What the heck. I say those skeptics have not ever been swimming. They have not kicked their legs so hard that the exhale bubble sound can't be heard. They have not made it to the other end of the pool just to push off again.
I choose to believe that I can get away from weight and am kicking and sticking my head under. I swing my arms cutting through the water. Yelling to my head hunger back off, you've never been my friend. Weight I'm done with you. I'm done running, trying to lose you. I'm swimming away and looking to find ME underneath YOU.
