I Got What?

Sometimes we receive gifts that we aren't so happy with. They can be really odd and we may not even know what the item is to be used for. But if your fortunate enough to have a mother like mine who wanted to do well by you, you'll be polite and do your best to reply with a graceful, "Thank-you."
Will, our middle child does not have to fake-it, one would be blind to not see that he is thrilled with his gift. I look at the pictures and pat myself on the back because I know he got what he wanted for Christmas. In my deeper inner spiritual thoughts I wonder, does he KNOW Jesus? Can he see Christ in me? As a parent I do believe that is my most important role. God gives us Christ. Through Him we have eternal life. We must remember to share Christ in us as believers. I pray my son's KNOW the real living Christmas gift.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hitting the double digts

Samuel James Niebuhr is turning 10 on the 26th of December. He is hitting the double digits, which makes me think of him driving, and leaving home. Home is home with Sam there and I'm not sure how I'll take the mile marker. I guess I'll have to take Nana's Lyn's example and send my love with him as he moves on to other places. Thanks, Nana for sending the Birthday cake and showing me that Sam can continue to receive my love even if he is not physically at home.

Having your very own blog is mind blogging?!

Sam, my oldest son had quite a reaction when he realized that I could post pictures, videos, and clips of our life on the computer. It was really wild for him to be able to GOOGLE IT whenever he wanted and bam there it would be. This is his comment via e-mail that he sent me...
It's now but how?
I like Max's candy-cane post!
It's sssssssooooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!!!
My own mom has a blog!!
Why is it called a blog?
Can boys have blogs??
If they can, can, you show me how to make one?
It's too awesome!!!
Panic mode activated,
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
This profile picture is of Sam, Halloween 2006. He did his own face. In doing so, a Star Wars space creature out of a crazy saloon scene was what he intended to create.

Christmas Carol

The boys are full of Christmas spirit. On the way to Oklahoma they decided to display their joyfulness with song...hope you enjoy the show and pray that we may have a silent night over the Christmas break!

They can get jingly with it, too!

The drive is only two and a half hours but it can seem like an eternity to the boys. Here, you can see for yourself!

There's a new blogger out there!

Yep, I'm a motivated blogging mama who's passion is spreading fast. I visited my dad and step-mom over the weekend and could not resist helping them set up their very own blog. For your fun and enjoyment click on the link http://jimscattergun.blogspot.com/

What are the names of the reindeer belonging to Santa Claus?

Names of Santa's reindeer

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen

Rudolf was not part of the original reindeer but came later from the song - Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer
Max wanted to recall all the reindeer names. He tried to recite them by singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. All he wants for Christmas is 100 fake and real candy canes. Strait, down and up, ones you can walk with as a cane. Here he is with a changing flavored candy cane. Max said it tasted like gum. According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.
Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.
Very interesting...

Curious Christmas Celebration

Close to two years past now I recall getting a call

from Madisen, my niece with news of pee in your

pants exciting stuff. She was to play the part of

Brad Pitt's girl friend at the age of 10-12. I was in

shock. She had just moved to LA with her family.

The plan was to get an agent and see if God was

going to open doors for her in the area of acting.

My brother and his wife (Madisen's parents) knew

how she came alive when on stage and had always

told her that they would support what ever she

was passionate about. They tried dance, BMX

racing, you name it but nothing made her

come alive like the theater did. So, wow,

within just a few months of stepping out in

faith and lots of work in talent classes

and auditions Madisen was chosen out of thousands

for the part of Daisy in the movie,

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which comes

out Christmas Day. Along with giving thanks for the

birth of Christ our savior we will no doubt be having

a thrill of a lifetime watching our loved one on the

big screen.Who would have thought she could go so

far in such a short time? What are your talents?

What are your child's talents? Are you willing to

be fearless and share them with others?

They are too cute to be scarry!

Leslie was fantastic to trick or treat
with this past Halloween as she decided to get
creepy with her costume.
By day she is a stay at home
mom and by night she becomes
happy go lucky with her tribe of
4 boys and 1 girl! We love you
Leslie! Do tell us, Leslie what
is your potion for staying young
and energetic?

Mountain Sleds

The Niebuhr boys (Kent included) intended on making the most of the first snow fall for the winter of 2008 by taking their sleds out on the driveway. In their minds they were out on a mountain top having a great adventure. Thanks, God for snow and little boys!

What a moment!

Maren (my niece) and her Mommy (my sister-in-law) were visting Grandma and Papa Joe over Thanksgiving and I snapped a picture of the fun nail session taking place. What a joy it is to have family come for visits! Miss Maren sparkles just like the polish in the jar!

It's now but how?!

Max was a tiger cub this past Halloween and it fit him well as he enjoys to bounce around just as Tigger would do. I’m always trying to catch him by the tail as he runs off with one of the big boy’s favorite toys!
Will dressed up as a vampire for Halloween and still today is quite the dramatic guy, so theatrical in his interaction with others. I’m constantly asking him to calm down so I can talk with him rationally. He asks for me to tuck him in before bed all warm and tight like bats sleep with their wings wrapped snuggly around themselves. It takes two ABC quilts that Grandma Pat made and his comforter on top to do the trick.
Sam decided to be a knight. Of course his Halloween costume had a sword, and shield along with a scary mask. It was expensive but Sam wanted it so much that he put some of his money together with ours so that he could get the costume. And still he is helping place the pieces of the puzzle together to aid in fortunate outcomes for all of our family.

Here Comes Santa

Yes, folks, Christmas can come because I've got a picture of my boys sitting with Santa. I don't ask for a white Christmas, just a picture of my sweethearts with Santa will do. Pictures say so much.
